Anton is 29 years old, his right hand No since birth. One of his hobbies is airsoft. Strikeball is a form of tactical military games in the open air. Its feature is the maximum copying of military units of different countries. All ammunition and game weapons on their external contours, shape, weight recalls the present. The game airbase machine Anton – MP5, it weighs almost 4 kg due to a body kit and coupled charged stores.
Before in the game Anton used a cosmetic prosthesis. In the game, the cosmetics showed itself to be reliable, but single-function – you could only insert the handle of the weapon into the prosthesis and that's it. He also wanted to expand his functionality, so it was necessary to create a prosthesis with which you can do more in the game and faster: take and release the tactical hilt, get and change the clip.
What awaits our prosthesis in the conditions of real airsoft combat? Running, falling, hitting against obstacles, hooks for trees, and the prosthesis should be able to hold the weapon. Hence the task for the designer: to prepare a prosthesis for increased loads – to strengthen it. Briefly and capaciously.
Due to the material used for 3D printing of the prosthesis – white polyamide, the basic version of "KIBI" has sufficient strength for performing household operations. Last summer, we specially subjected the prosthesis to various tests to find out the limits of its endurance. Preparing the prosthesis for battle
It was decided to approach the solution of the task in a complex way. The first obvious point was the thickening of the details of the brush and the connector of the hand with the forearm. Then all the elements of the fastening were strengthened, because everything that can break off-tear off, will be broken off-torn off, in the heat of the struggle, not to tenderness.
Next on the turn was the fastening of the cultivating sleeve. We increased the contact area of the injured hand with the sleeve itself and the number of attachment points to both the palm part and the sleeve. It remained only to deal with the fingers. Here we applied the scheme of fastening on two planes, for this purpose the mating parts were made in the form of trapeziums, the axes were thickened. Additionally, we protected our fingers from falling out due to vibration and shock.

But this is not the most difficult test that happened to pass a prosthesis hand. In one of the battles, the enhanced design of the gadget was seriously tested. Anton will tell about it himself.
Masking the prosthesis
When we make traction dentures for Children, we usually paint them in bright colors. Adult users prefer neutral – beige, gray. In the case of an airsoft prosthesis, the choice of color was unequivocal – protective. We also stylized him as a tactical glove. All for the sake of invisibility and general harmony in the severe image of the airsoft player!
