Many readers and visitors to Lamptest.ru asked me to test the LED lamps of the Chinese company Xiaomi. Finally, I had the opportunity to do it.

Two types of lamps are produced – YLDP01YL with white light and YLDP02YL with variable color temperature and color.

Almost all lamps YLDP01YL on Aliexpress have a color temperature of 4000K (neutral white light), but lamps of this type are also available with a warm white light of 2700K. A lamp with a color temperature of 4000K has come to test me.

It is important to pay attention to the supply voltage. The Xiaomi Yeelight lamps are available in both 220 and 120 volts (for example, www.yeelight.com indicates 120 V for these lamps). 120-volt lamps when attempting to use them in Russian networks with a voltage of 220-230 volts will burn out.

Lamps are equipped with Wi-Fi and allow you to control the brightness (in the case of YLDP01YL) or brightness, color temperature and color (in the case of YLDP02YL ) From the smartphone using the MiHome application.

It is not possible to control the brightness of these lamps with conventional dimmers.

The first time the two lamps are on full brightness and have a color temperature of 4000K. I measured the lamp parameters in this mode.

The luminous flux of the lamps was measured with a two-meter integrating sphere and the Instrument Systems spectrometer, the lighting angle and consumption characteristics of the Viso Light Spion, the power consumption of the Robiton PM-2, the color rendering index, Color temperature and pulsation with a Uprtek MK350D instrument.

Pulsation of light in both lamps is completely absent. Color rendering indexes are quite high – these lamps can be used to illuminate living spaces. The luminous flux of lamps is significantly higher than the one declared, the color lamp already has 18%. The shape of the cap does not allow the lamps to shine back, so the illumination angle is about 180 degrees.

The housing of both lamps is heated to 53 degrees during operation. When working at maximum brightness, the lamp with white light is absolutely noiseless (with a decrease in brightness it starts to whistle softly), the color lamp hums quietly.

To control the lamps, you need to install the MiHome application on your smartphone and create an account in it. Once the lamp is first turned on, it will immediately appear in the application. To connect, you need to enter the password from the Wi-Fi network and, if desired, rename the lamp.

The application does not allow you to set exact values ​​for brightness and color temperature. Everything is done "by eye". Brightness is regulated by the movement of the finger up and down, the color temperature is left-right.

Similarly, brightness and color are adjusted in color mode.

As I wrote above, by default, each time you turn on the network, both lamps light up at full brightness, and color with a color temperature of 4000K. If desired, any state (color and brightness) can be remembered and on subsequent power-ups (even without WiFi) the lamp will turn on with the color and brightness memorized. There is also an auto memorization mode when the lamp always remembers its last state.

Several lamps can be combined into groups for simultaneous adjustment of parameters and on-off (for example, when several such lamps are installed in one chandelier). There is a mode of memorizing several states (favorites), to which you can then return.

An additional set of "special effects" allows you to do things like emulation of dawn in 15 minutes, various color changes, candle effect and even flashing lamps.

I measured the possibilities of lamps when adjusting from the application.

A white light lamp YLDP01YL allows you to reduce the brightness to 7%. The pulsation of light when operating at a reduced brightness does not exceed 0.2%. As soon as the brightness of the lamp becomes at least slightly less than the maximum, it begins to emit a soft squeak. Perhaps, when installing a lamp in a chandelier, it will not be heard.

The color lamp YLDP02YL allows you to change the color temperature of white light from 1900 to 6140K. It is inconvenient that the color temperature can not be determined exactly. The lamp allows you to reduce the brightness to 9%. With a decrease in brightness, the level of light pulsation reaches 16%.

The lamp shines most brightly at a color temperature of 4000K. When the color temperature is lowered or increased, the luminous flux decreases:

The color temperature between 2600K and 3300K is very difficult to install – it is a microscopic movement of the finger on the screen to the left and to the right. For ten minutes of torment to achieve 2700 K I did not succeed. In the application, the color temperature is visible only after the preset is stored in favorites (it is shown in the form of a comment), but this color temperature is too high – 4472K is shown at real 4145K.

In full color mode, the lamp gives 100-180 lumens in Depending on the color. The pulsation in color mode also does not exceed 16% for any color and brightness.

Although the lamp YLDP02YL is sold as a lamp with a variable color temperature, it is important to consider that in the warm light mode it gives half the light, and in Color mode – even less. It can be said that at 4000K it shines like a 60-watt incandescent lamp, at 6100K or 3300K as 40W, at 2600K only as 25W, and in color mode as a 15W incandescent lamp.

When working, the lamp is always quietly hums, while the volume and nature of the sound depends on the mode. At a distance of 1 meter in the afternoon, the noise of the lamp is no longer audible.

The minimum price I was able to find on the Aliexpress lamp is Xiaomi Yeelight YLDP01YL 220V 4000K – $ 12.74.
