Hyperloop One company announced successful tests of the demonstration capsule. In the DevLoop test tunnel 500 m long near Las Vegas, the capsule developed a speed of 310 km / h. Capsule XP-1 8.7 m long is a shell of carbon fiber on the chassis, which levitates in a technical vacuum.
From 500 m of the tunnel about 300 m are equipped with a linear electric motor with an unfolded winding, which creates a magnetic field. When the movable secondary element interacts with a permanent magnet with a stator – a series of induction coils – a linear movement of the movable part of the motor is provided, that is, magnetic levitation (maglev).
The first tests of the levitating landing gear in the same tunnel took place on May 12, 2017. The rarefied atmosphere and the linear electric motor at 300 meters allow the capsule to accelerate to a maximum speed of 400 km / h, but the duration of the first test was 5.3 seconds and only 30 meters of the linear electric motor was used, so that the chassis accelerated to only 112 km / h with an acceleration of 2G
After that, a group of engineers dispersed the chassis faster and faster, and then proceeded to test the capsule (carbon fiber shell on the chassis). The tests of the capsule are not fundamentally different from the chassis tests, because the carbon fiber shell has very little weight, and the air resistance is practically absent. Therefore, just a few days of testing on July 29, 2017, the XP-1 accelerated to a record speed of 310 km / h. This is close to the theoretical maximum that the tunnel allows.
As in the past, after the pumping of air, the pressure in the tunnel was 5 Pa, which corresponds to the technical vacuum.
To overclock it was necessary to use all 300 m Cloth with stator. The braking distance was then 137 m. According to Hyperloop One calculations, with an additional 2000 m of canvas with stator, the capsule could accelerate to 1100 km / h.

Maybe, even in our lifetime, they will start everywhere to build tunnels, where the capsules fly at a speed of 1100 km / H on popular routes. In theory, this should be much cheaper than air transport. And the creators say that it is also safer. However, like everything new, at first people will be afraid of unusual technology. But eventually, probably, they will get used to it. In the extreme case, first tunnels can be used for transporting goods, the more so that inhuman accelerations can be used, that is, the speed of delivery of cargo will be higher than the speed of delivery of live passengers.
Having established a speed record, Hyperloop One proved That among all companies that are developing the technology Hyperloop, it is the closest to the commercial launch of this technology.
Executive Director of the company Rob Lloyd said in a published statement: "We have proven the efficiency of the technology and are now ready to enter into negotiations with partners, customers and governments around the world and the full commercialization of our Hyperloop technology." Initially, Hyperloop One promised to conduct full-scale tests before the end of 2016. As you can see, the company was slightly optimistic and made a mistake for six months. Most likely, the first real transport tunnel will not be built in the US (at least, the company's management expressed opposition to this option). Hyperloop One is holding a competition among all comers. In January, of the 2,600 participants, 35 semi-finalists were selected.
